Much more than a catwalk...There is little doubt that the Hands Up For Darfur Fashion Show is going to be the defining event of the Oxford University Summer calendar. Much more than a catwalk, Hands Up will be an all-inclusive night of luxury and delectation! With an atmosphere and buzz that will encapsulate the glamour, sophistication and panache of Milan, New York, London and Paris the evening will begin with a luxurious champagne and canapé reception in the exquisite Assembly Rooms of the Oxford Town Hall. The runway will host dozens of the world’s most influential couturiers including John Galliano, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson, Pucci and Anya Hindmarch.

To reiterate our support and connection with the African continent, we have chosen several individuals who we believe have striking innovation and stylistic flair-namely Gavin Rajah of South Africa and the team at AFI-African Fashion International. Finally, as this is a show run and produced by students, we felt strongly that we should encourage some of London’s most talented young designers. Therefore, the evening will also showcase collections from the students of Central St Martins and the London College of Fashion, all in keeping with the spectacular ‘Fantasy’ theme.

There will also be speakers from our charities, MSF and Kids for Kids who will discuss their personal experiences of the Darfur region and the refugee camps of Eastern Chad, ensuring that our audience does not lose sight of the grave and serious nature of our cause. This project is a pioneering partnership between leading, influential figures in the fashion industry and Oxford students to send out a united appeal and demand for increased awareness and understanding of the current humanitarian crisis. Please do come and support us-we hope to see you there.
